The ball screw is a mechanical transmission element that converts rotational motion into linear motion.
It has high-precision transmission capabilities and can achieve extremely fine and precise displacements, making it an indispensable key component in high-end equipment such as precision instruments and CNC machine tools. Its transmission efficiency is high and it can transmit power more effectively than other transmission methods.Ball screws also have good rigidity and stability, and can withstand larger loads and maintain stable operation. The ball screws have lead screw, nut ,ball and reverser and so on.
Ball screw working principle
1.Ball screw is an actuator used to convert rotary motion into linear motion; or linear motion into rotary motion. It has high transmission efficiency and accurate positioning.
2. When the ball screw is used as the main transmission body, the nut will convert the rotation angle of the screw into linear motion according to the lead of the corresponding specification. The passive work-piece can be connected to the nut through the nut seat to achieve the corresponding linear motion.
Ball screw features:
1.Compared with the sliding screw pair, the driving torque is 1/3
There are many balls doing rolling motion between the screw shaft and the nut on the ball screw, so it can achieve higher motion efficiency. Compared with the previous sliding screw pair, the driving torque is less than 1/3. That is, the power required to achieve the same motion result is just1/3 of the rolling screw pair. Very helpful in saving power.
2.High precision guaranteed
Ball screws are continuously produced using the world's highest level of machinery and equipment . Especially in terms of the factory environment during grinding, assembly, and inspection of each process, temperature and humidity are strictly controlled. Thanks to a complete quality management system So that the accuracy can be fully guaranteed.
3.Micro feed possible
Because the ball screw uses ball motion, the starting torque is extremely small, and there will be no crawling phenomenon like sliding motion, ensuring accurate micro-feed.
4.No backlash, high rigidity
The ball screw can be pre-pressured. The pre-pressure can make the axial clearance reach a negative value, thereby obtaining higher rigidity (by pre-pressuring the balls in the ball screw, when it is actually used in mechanical devices, etc., due to the The repulsive force can enhance the rigidity of the thread mother part).
5. High-speed feeding possible
The ball screw can achieve high-speed feed (movement) due to its high movement efficiency and low heat generation.
Accuracy tolerance: C10, C7, C5, C3, C2, C1--the smaller the number, the higher the accuracy.
Ball Screw Frequently Questions
1. Wear: Long-term use causes wear of the screw, nut and ball, affecting transmission accuracy and efficiency.
2. Stuck: The ball or screw may be stuck due to impurities entering, poor lubrication, etc.
3. The return error increases: that is, a large deviation occurs during reverse movement, which is usually caused by factors such as wear and tear.
4. Abnormal noise: If abnormal noise occurs, it may be caused by damaged parts or poor coordination.
5. Bending and deformation of the screw: Excessive load or impact may cause the screw to deform, affecting normal operation.
6. Seal failure: Dust, debris, etc. can easily enter the inside of the screw, causing a series of problems.
7. Lubrication system failure: such as insufficient oil supply, blocked oil circuit, etc., resulting in poor lubrication.
Ball Screw Maintenance
Things need to know in advance
1.Keep the screw clean. Regularly clean dust, debris, etc. on the surface of the screw to prevent them from entering the inside of the screw and affecting the operation.
2. Ensure good lubrication. According to the usage conditions, add appropriate lubricating oil or grease at specified intervals to make the balls roll smoothly on the screw and reduce wear.
3.Avoid overloading. Do not make the screw bear a load beyond its carrying capacity to prevent deformation or damage of the screw
4.Ensure accuracy when installing and using. Avoid damage to the screw or loss of accuracy due to incorrect installation or operation.
5.Regularly check the operating status of the screw, including whether there is abnormal noise, vibration, etc. If problems are found, promptly repair or replace damaged parts
6.Pay attention to environmental factors and avoid long-term operation of the screw in harsh environments, such as high temperature, high humidity, corrosive environments, etc., and take protective measures when necessary
7.The components that cooperate with the screw must also be maintained to ensure the good operation of the entire transmission system.
8.When the screw is not used for a long time, protection and maintenance should also be done to prevent rust and other conditions.
How to check the ball screw condition?
1. Appearance inspection: Carefully check whether there are scratches, rust, bump damage, etc. on the surface of the screw.
2. Lubrication condition inspection: Observe whether the distribution of lubricating oil or grease is even and whether there is a lack of oil. If the color of the lubricant turns black or the viscosity decreases, it may indicate that the lubricant has aged or worn and needs to be replaced with a new lubricant.
3. Check the smoothness of movement: manually turn the screw or drive it to feel if there is any lag or unsmoothness.
4. Noise Check: Listen for unusual noises while running, which may indicate a malfunction. If you hear abnormal noises during work, such as hissing or friction from the bearings, it may be a sign of poor lubrication, and the lubrication needs to be checked immediately
5. Accuracy check: Use special detection tools or compare with standard parts to check whether there are changes in the positioning accuracy and repeatability of the screw.
6. Gap check: Check whether there is abnormal gap between the screw nut.
7. Inspection of connection parts: Check the components connected to the screw, such as bearing seats, couplings, etc., to ensure that the connections are tight and not loose.
8. Temperature check: Check whether the temperature of the screw increases abnormally after operation by touching it with your hands or using a temperature measuring instrument. If the temperature of the bearing is too high during operation, it may be caused by insufficient lubrication, and the amount of lubricant needs to be increased or the lubricant needs to be replaced.
9. Cleanliness check: Check whether there is excessive dust, debris, etc. accumulated around the screw.
10. Thread inspection: Check whether the screw thread is complete and whether there is any damage.
